Fire Safety

American kids have excellent role models in our country's fearless heroes — our firefighters. Children are always excited to learn more about these great Americans — how they fight fires, what kind of trucks they drive and what kind of gear they wear. But what is most important for students to learn is how to prevent fires before they start.

Promoting fire safety is the best way to fight fire! The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week for more than 80 years, helps spread the word about the best ways NOT to spark a blaze! The downloadable PDF information & activities sheet provides many suggestions on how to get your students involved in fire safety efforts. Please photocopy it for distribution to teachers. Remember to read the check list to help maximize the value of your effort. When your school finishes the program, just fill out the official participation form and send it to Campbell's to receive your bonus points redeemable through the Labels for Education™ Program. It's that easy!

You too can team up with Labels for America and the NFPA to promote fire safety. Coordinate your first effort with Fire Prevention Week, October 7-13, 2007. Your students can learn about fire safety while earning bonus points for your school. Visit www.firepreventionweek.org for information about Fire Prevention Week.

Learning about fire safety, caring for others and sharing what you learn builds a safer America — one school at a time.
